What is Chapter 13 bankruptcy?

Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a debt repayment plan to pay outstanding debt to your creditors. This plan lasts between three to five years. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing remains on your credit record for seven years from the date of filing. Typically, a debtor who wants to keep non-exempt property, such as a house or car, chooses to file for bankruptcy under Chapter 13.

Facing Foreclosure?

You do not have to lose your home in a bankruptcy proceeding. Our lawyers are skilled at providing clients with a range of options and education on avoiding or stopping foreclosure.

Filing for bankruptcy is not right for everyone. During our first meeting, I can assess your case and determine if seeking protection under bankruptcy is in your best interests. If it is not, I can help you understand your options and assist you in moving forward. Since not all debt is dischargeable, our firm can discuss alternatives to bankruptcy with you.

In some cases, a combination of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies is appropriate. I tailor the way in which I approach the case to suit your goals, needs, and the specifics of your case.
